Kumiko Candle Cover Kit (white OR brown)

Welcome to Takamori’s 6th and LAST online workshop!

If you enjoy having friends or family over for dinner or drinks, this last craft is just what you need:

You’ll make a kumiko candle cover, for an electric candle (if you want more than 1 use out if it haha) that will give you the perfect cozy atmosphere for these long summer nights 🥰

In this kit, you will find a base with circular cut-outs to let the light through from all sides, and kumiko pieces to assemble the top yourself during the live online workshop with Shiozawa-sensei and me 🙌

For those of you who don’t know what kumiko is:

• kumiko is a centuries old art form that creates intricate works of art out of wood and nothing else
• it takes more than 10 years to be a fully trained kumiko artisan and be able to make these minuscule wooden pieces, that are then used to create very detailed works
• the artisans are so precise that there is no glue, or screws, or anything other than wood used to make everything hold
• there are only about 50 kumiko artisans left in the whole of Japan
• no dye is used, all the colours are natural and depend on the type of wood (they range from decades old to a couple milleniums)

Exceptionally, you can choose between two colour patterns this time! Tell me which one you choose in the note section while placing your order, or send me a DM on @takamori_travel_official

• all white with hiba wood (300 years old, a type of Japanese cypress)
• white and dark brown with hiba and kurumi wood (80 years old walnut tree)

As usual, 100% of the revenue will go to Kumiko Shiozawa!

⚠️ The stock is limited to 50 pieces only this time!! ⚠️ Shiozawa-san is very busy at the moment so he won’t be able to make more, but he still took some time to create this lovely piece especially for you, to make during this workshop! 🤎

The live will be on Instagram on Sunday, March 20th at 5pm (JP). The live will be saved on the IGtv tab if you can’t join us, so that you can make it later! (the previous workshops are already there)

⚠️ the candle is not included in the kit! Here’s an example on amazon, but you should be able to find them in any hardware or home decoration store, just be careful to get some that are smaller than 5cm in diameter and height (the average size is 3-4cm) ⚠️
